I came across these old, fading, worn signs at a bar on the Hudson River.

I was now feeling a little tired (from the walking) and hungry. It was also quite cold and very windy, so I decided to go somewhere warm and have something to eat. The Playwright Celtic Club was conveniently near to the theater where the show was being performed.

We were driving through Hudson Falls on our way back to our Vermont Inn, when we passed this sign. We weren’t sure that we’d read it correctly, so we turned around and went back to take another look.
It seems we did read it correctly, but the juxtaposition of “Firearms” and “fine shoes” was just too much for us and we couldn’t stop laughing for a good part of the rest of the drive.
The store was closed when we went past, but for a look at the interior checkout their website at Calamity Jane’s Firearms & Fine Shoes.

I had a visitor staying with me a couple of weeks ago. We’d been out all day and were a little tired so we decided to go to a nearby Mexican Restaurant. It was fairly crowded and a particularly loud group of women was making a lot of noise.
We asked if we could relocate to another table and were told that the only available tables were outside. I didn’t even know that they had an outside seating area! Anyway off we went. It turned out that it was quite pleasant, and almost completely empty – just one couple and a couple of these colorful statues.
